Simbang gabi is a 9day roman catholic ritual novena performed here in my country (Philippines) every year. It starts from December 16 and ends on Christmas day, usually being held at 4 or 5 in the morning.
I have quoted myself as a Christian Born Again 5 years ago. That was when I started to join a fellowship up to now. Basically, there is only a few difference between a Roman Catholic and a Christian Born Again. Well yea, I don’t want to bore you with going technical about religions. As for me, I only believe in “A Relationship with God” religion and that’s about it.
As a person, I will attend the traditional simbang gabi and try to complete it. Apart from having a sleeping disorder and being bored at night, I find it worthy to listen to the Priest’s sermon rather than playing some nonsense games on my boyfriend’s iPod to fall asleep.
Today will be the first day of the Simbang Gabi and will be attending in the church inside our village.
Hope the rest of the Filipino people will not just go to the church for a barkada’s “Simbang Tabi”. Let’s always remember the essence of these traditional practices and of course the true meaning why we celebrate christmas every year.
